WiFi
You will find the WiFi details on the wall as you walk in to the apartment.
AirCon – Cooling & Heating
Please note the aircon only works when all the doors and windows (apart from the bathroom) are closed and someone is in the room – if you leave the room and don’t come back in, the aircon will turn off.
Heating and cooling are provided by the aircon units.
Use the MODE button (to the left of the on/off) to choose heating (sun symbol on display) or cooling (snowflake symbol). The TEMP buttons (up/down arrows) set the desired temperature (20°C is a comfortable temperature). Use the FAN button to select the fan speed – in auto mode the fan will run as fast or slow as necessary to maintain the set temperature and is the most effective setting.
If the aircon turns off after a few minutes please check that ALL doors and windows are properly closed (list below). The aircon won’t carry on running if the apartment is empty.
The doors and windows that must be closed are:-
- Bedroom entrance door
- Bedroom patio doors (left and right)
- Front door
- Kitchen window
- Terrace windows
If you have a problem, first physically make sure that all of the windows and doors are firmly latched closed and not slightly open – for example it’s easy to miss a slightly open patio door, hidden by the curtain, so please double check everything.
Please note when you first switch the aircon on, the flap will open, but it will not immediately start blowing air – the fan automatically starts once the compressor has reached it’s operating temperature, which can take up to 30 seconds. This is perfectly normal.
Ceiling Fans
For the fans to work, first turn on the light switch as normal, then use the remote to operate the fan. Note that the fan has two directions – if you can’t feel any air it’s probably going backwards (winter mode). Press the REVERSE button (8) to change it.
HOT WATER
The hot water is on an automatic timer (above the fuse box). Please get in touch if you aren’t getting hot water when you need it.
Please note the boiler is power hungry, so please don’t turn everything else on when using it (see below).
ELECTRICITY
Please Note: The electricity company limits the supply to the house to 4.4KW – if you exceed this supply the power will go off.
To reset it, turn the main breaker (labelled IGA POWER), on the box by the front door, off, then back on again. You can not have everything on at the same time in the house (eg cooker and all the air con units) – this is not a fault, it is a standard feature of domestic supplies in Spain.
WASHING MACHINE
To use the washing machine, make sure it is plugged in and the water is turned on (tap under the sink, turn it anti-clockwise to turn it on). As it is a top loader washing machine, please make sure the drum is properly latched closed before operating as pictured below. DO NOT TRY AND FORCE THE LID OF THE MACHINE CLOSED IF THIS DRUM IS NOT LATCHED CLOSED AS PICTURED.

HOB

If the bottom right lock symbol is lit (as in the photo), hold your finger on lock the button until it unlocks.
To turn on the hob, hold your finger on the bottom left button until the hob beeps and lights up. Touch which one of the four rings you want to use and the red power display will start flashing – select the power up down with the + – buttons.
AWNING
The awning winds up and down using the handle sitting on the left of the terrace (hook into the loop at the right end of the awning).

When the awning is down you MUST lock its arms into the clips on the window ledge (pictured) or when it gets windy you risk breaking the glass.

POOL

The swimming pool is accessed through the doors on the ground floor (turn left as you come out of the lift). The yellow fob on the pool keyring (with the credit card sized pool pass) opens the gate – hold it against the reader pictured. In summer the lifeguard will ask to see the card which is also on the keyring (please note outside of summer there is no lifeguard on duty). Only people staying in the apartment may use the pool.

PARKING
There is no parking at the apartment or outside on the street. You can park on the neighbouring streets free of charge observing all parking restrictions (the police will issue tickets and will tow if you park illegally – if you don’t 100% understand the signage, don’t park). There is a pay car park at the Balcon de Europa:-

SHOPPING
The nearest mini-markets are on the main road above the flat, on the other side of the road from the Rui Monica hotel next door. They stock most things you need, but are more expensive than the supermarkets. The nearest large supermarket is MAS (500m walk from the apartment):-

There is also a Carrefour Express on the way to the Balcon de Europa:-

LOCAL RESTAURANTS
You can find the seafront restaurant right next to the apartment, with Bamboo on the eastern end of the promenade (left) or you can turn right and carry on to the end of Playazo beach passing several beach front places. Mirasol at the bottom of Calle Malaga is a popular choice for reasonably priced food along with Jamaica opposite the Rui Monica hotel. If you walk along Playazo beach you will find a few beach chiringuitos, with Mauri at the far end being one of the most popular.

There are many other nice places to choose from, to suit all tastes and budgets, with the stretch of restaurants on Plaza Cangrejos (pictured) being very popular (Mirasol at the top of the square, Bamboo at the bottom).
WATERSPORTS
Kayaks, jet skis, parascending, stand up paddle boards and banana boats are all available over at the end of Burriana beach (eastern end of town) and also from the boatyards on Playazo beach (the large beach to the east of Torrecilla). Map links:-
OLD TOWN CENTRE
The old town centre, with the famous Balcon de Europa, is totally pedestrianised and is full of cafes, bars and restaurants, again too many to list, but Pulguilla (for seafood in the restaurant or tapas in the bar) and Pinocchio with food to suit everyone stand out (both on Calle Almirante Ferrándiz).
